Press ⌘, or click the gear in the title bar. Settings opens in its own window, and every change applies instantly.

Window

Keep on top of Pro Tools keeps the main window above Pro Tools so you can watch the queue while you work. The pin in the title bar does the same.

Updates

The installed version, Check Now and Release Notes.
Check for updates automatically: once per launch. You're told when a version is available; nothing is downloaded or installed on its own, and never in the middle of a bounce. When an update is ready, Download and Restart installs it, or Later. Occasionally an update is required and can't be postponed.
Get beta updates: try new features early. You move to the final release when it ships.

Bounce Defaults

What a session starts with when you add it. Each value can be a fixed choice or Session, which follows whatever the Pro Tools session is set to.

File type: Session, WAV, AIFF or MP3.
Bit depth: Session, 16, 24 or 32 float.
Sample rate: Session, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192 kHz.
Mix source: pick from the open session's outputs and buses, with Update from Pro Tools to refresh the list.
Range: Timeline Selection or Memory Location.
Bounce options: Realtime bounce, Pad to frame boundary, Import after bounce.

These are defaults only. Every bounce keeps its own setup, and the chips under the list override these for the next bounces you add. See Bounce creation.

One tab per kind of bounce (Mix, Solo, Mute, Batch, Clips, Preset), each with a pattern made of text and tokens, plus how sample rates, bit depths and dates are written, whether to reuse the last name, and numbering (on by default for new sessions or not, and in which format). See Naming bounces.
